One of the Biggest events I did in the near past on November 22, 2011 was for the the Fundraising Organization called CANFAR and the name of the event - Bloor Street Entertains which happened to celebrate the 15th year anniversary. Every year this event transforms a few prominent retail locations in the yorkville area into a glamorous display of fine dining, haute couture and live entertainment!
DIESEL was one of those retail locations that me and Alex Cheng were dedicating all of our time to.
Because I am already crazie about this store, their style and their clothes, it was not too much of a challenge to come up with the nuthead idea for their dinning set up, that blew everybody's mind! We planned to have a" Future meets Past technology" theme full of creatively broken turn- tables, records, spheres made out of shiny stuff etc.. But of coarse great ideas require great $$$$$, so the management decided to challenge our skills and creativity and switched the theme almost 100% around! Now we had to do a Girly/Glamour/Romance/Poetic set up, which made Alex Cheng very sad, because he is such a tough-technology-DJ individual who did not want to show his feminine side :), therefore I had to plan and execute he whole thing myself! (haha joking) We actually still made it look pretty cool with almost no budget, because it was a charity, that even Kesha Chante decided to dine at Diesel that night. (if she's reading this - We want one of our doll figurines back!!)
The event made over $4 million that day and we ended up getting some exposure after all, as a school, not individually though.
Here is what we have done:
Diesel dinning table
The infamous centerpiece - representing a beautiful female (with a pink afro)
Table setting
Si and Alex Cheng working hard
The runner, designed by Alex
Menue/book with poems in it
Flowers and giftbags
Si - in charge ;)
All Photography is done by BABAK
Some coverage of the event is here and in Globe and Mail.
